Care for your people
Caring for your people is the pastoral thread that runs alongside everything else — the visits, the decisions made at the altar, the person who needs somebody to check on them, and the record that keeps all of it from living in one person's memory.

Where to start
If you are setting this up for the first time, start with Care Tags. Three or four honest tags — needs a visit, new believer, homebound — turn your directory into something you can act on, and everything else here hangs off them.
Then decide who logs what. Pastoral Care records visits and turns "somebody should call her" into an assignment with a name on it.

A word about privacy
Pastoral notes are visible to your staff. Write what the next person genuinely needs to know to care for somebody well, and leave out what was said in confidence. Pastoral Care covers who can see what.
