Member Portal

The Member Portal is the page each member and visitor gets for themselves — where they see their groups, their classes, what they are serving on, and what comes next. It is built for your congregation, not for your staff.

No app download is required; it opens in any browser. There is also a Passport app covering the same six areas, and it does several things the browser cannot: push notifications, biometric unlock, and a passport QR that works without a signal. Seeing a service plan and claiming an open spot work in both.

What you need

How people get in

Each person has their own portal link. Open their profile under People and use Send Portal Link — the link is unique to them, so it takes them straight to their own page with no password to remember.

Members can also sign in with their phone number: Passport texts a code, they type it in.

:::tip Print it once, use it all year The QR on somebody's printed passport card opens their portal. For a congregation that struggles with links in text messages, the card is the more reliable route. :::

Membership progress reflects whatever your church has set under Visitor-Member Path. If you require a class before membership, this is where somebody sees how far through it they are.

Connect

Where members find groups.

  • Browse groups — groups that need approval show Request to Join; open groups show Join.
  • My groups — their groups sit at the top with a link to group chat and a preview of the latest message.
  • Upcoming assignments — serving dates with Confirm and Decline.

Joining a group that sends notifications prompts them for an email address if one is not already on file. What arrives, and how, is covered in Group Message Notifications.

Grow

Where members work through classes.

  • Classes — what is open to them, given any prerequisites. They can apply, complete, or withdraw.
  • Pathway tracks — sequences where finishing one class unlocks the next.
  • Virtual modules — classes with online content they work through in the portal.

Serve

Ministry involvement, covered in full under Ministries & Volunteers.

  • My ministries and Upcoming assignments, with Confirm and Decline. Assignments from the past week stay on the list briefly before dropping off; there is no full serving history.
  • See the plan — on any assignment whose service plan has been published, the running order, the songs and their keys, the call time, and who else is serving. Notes marked for planners only are stripped out before it is shown.
  • Open spots — unfilled positions in the next six weeks, in ministries they are already on, which they can claim for themselves.
  • Ministry opportunities — everything available; Express interest tells leadership they want to serve.
  • Volunteer profile — availability by day and time, skills, and blackout dates up to six months ahead.

The whole account-free serving experience is covered in For Volunteers.

Prayer

  • Submit a request — publicly under their name, or anonymously.
  • Community feed — requests from the rest of the congregation.
  • Respond — react so the person knows others are praying, and mark a request answered.

Give

Giving history and recurring gifts. See Online giving for what it covers.

What the portal is not

It does not replace the admin side of Passport. Staff manage records, run reports and change settings in the main interface — members never see any of it.

Members also cannot start a conversation from the portal. Messaging is staff-initiated; see Inbox.
